| Trustees Elect Jack Wadsworth to Finance Committee | |
| Fryeburg Fair trustees have
elected Jack Wadsworth of Hiram to replace the late Dr. Eugene Hussey on
the three-member Finance Committee. A 1966 graduate of Fryeburg Academy, Wadsworth  has
been involved with the fair for more than a quarter century and was elected
a trustee in 1989. Dr. Hussey of North Conway, NH served on the fair’s
governing Finance Committee since 1974. He died Aug. 21, 2006 at age 85.The Finance Committee makes financial and personnel decisions throughout the year. Members serve for three years and are elected at the annual December trustees meeting. Wadsworth joins Ted Raymond and David Hastings III. The board also elected Sut Marshall of Conway NH and Web Fox of Fryeburg as new trustees. Wadsworth graduated from the University of Maine in 1971 with a B.S. in Forest Management. He worked as a forester for S.D. Warren Co. from 1977 to 1994, when he started Wadsworth Woodlands. |
He managed 30,000
acres of the Westbrook company and later more than 60,000 of private forestland. In 2003, he formed a partnership called K&W Timberlands that has purchased 5,300 acres of Maine timberland. His involvement with Fryeburg Fair began in 1980 with the Woodsmen’s Day executive committee. He also served as the event announcer for 20 years. He served on the original committee for the fair’s Forest Resource Center. In 1998, he was named assistant beef Superintendent. In 2001, he became the Beef Superintendent, overseeing the beef cattle department along with its shows and exhibitions. From 1986 to 2000, Wadsworth served as Livestock Superintendent at Ossipee Valley Fair. For the past three years, he has been involved with developing a liability insurance program for the Maine Association of Livestock Exhibitors. He has also served as chairman of the Hiram Planning Board, Chairman of the Maine Tree Farm Committee, Head Deacon of the East Baldwin Congregational Church and Head Coach of the Sacopee Valley High School Alpine Skiing team. For more than 25 years, he and his wife, Beth, have operated Rock Crop Farm in Hiram where they raise and show registered Herefords. |
